Hello Ash and Chestnut
Welcome to Week 6 of home learning. This week is a week of feasting, dancing and poetry! You have all worked incredibly hard this half term and we will have some fun this week to celebrate.
Your weekly outline of all subjects is below. Remember your teacher will be uploading daily videos modelling and introducing the lessons being completed in school that day. More daily lessons across all subject areas are still available to dip into on BBC Bitesize and Oak National Academy if you require them.
Your teacher will have sent you information about GetEpic - a fantastic online library for us all to access from home. Check ClassDojo to find out details of how to log in to your class page and start exploring!
Take care everyone!
We are going to use our senses to help us write poetry this week! By the end of the week we will be writing our own castle sensory poem.

We are continuing Phase 5 in our Phonics lessons. This is something that is taught everyday in Year 1, with at least three sounds introduced each week.
Daily lessons attached here...
We do a LOT of sorting between nonsense and real words in Year 1 building towards the Phonics Screener in June. Have a look at Phonics Play as we use it a lot at school. Lots of games to choose from and they are offering free access to their site again due to lockdown. Games such as Dragon's Den, Picnic on Pluto and Buried treasure are fantastic for practising blending.
This week we will be looking at how to use the question mark ! Open the Powerpoint and Mrs Lambert will talk you through the activities. There are some sheets for practise as well.
We have also included a high frequency word list, which the children can practise reading and writing- lots of them are included during our phonics as well.
Shropshire Music Service have sent us some music lessons that you can have a go at whilst you're at home. Follow the links on the page and enjoy. We'd love to see some videos of you playing along!
We will practise spelling each week based on the sounds that we have learnt in phonics.
We would normally be working towards guided reading groups at this point in the year. These groups are when we get chance to really start working on our reading comprehension together. We would do this once a week. Try the reading comprehension activity below. They cover sounds that we have already covered in class.
In Year 1 this week we will be finishing our unit on Place Value with numbers to 50.
Please read through Year 1 Maths Week 6 below to guide you through this week's lessons.
We are focusing on our sense of taste this week- so get ready to do some eating! Take a look at Super Senses Week 5 to guide you through this week's activities.
If you're at home missing science and wanting to do more - you could take a look at “Let’s Go Live with Maddie & Greg” which is a live family science show on YouTube hosted by Maddie Moate & Greg Foot. They do three live sessions a week on a Monday, Weds and Fri at 11am. All episodes are available on their Youtube channel (link above).
Feast! Music! Dance!
As a celebration of how hard you have worked this half term, we have a week of dancing, singing and banquets!
There are also some craft activities to make yourself a knights costume but please DO NOT feel you have to do them!
Refer to Topic week 6 to guide you through the week's activities.
We have loved the dance lessons, but now we have finished our routine it's time to move onto Boxfit! We will send the link to lesson 1 via Dojo on Wednesday.
PE Passport link is below. Resources include different challenges and video clips. You can have a look here...
Of course PE with Joe is on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9am for 20 mins. We will be getting involved at school too.
We also use these websites for mind or movement breaks.
We are starting a unit on identity, society and equality in school this week. This week we are thinking about our roles and responsibilities at home.
These are some useful website links for Year 1. We use a lot of these in school with the children.
